Bubble play is such a beneficial activity for the whole family. Not only does it promote family bonding and a calm break in the day, but your child is also getting practice with oral motor, fine motor, and gross motor skills. Plus speech therapists will love the communication benefits and I can't argue about the visual/motor work going on as they track the bubbles and focus on blowing the bubbles.

Bubbles can be an awesome activity if your child finds it enjoyable -- we call it a communication temptation. A communication temptation is an activity or situation that is set up to “tempt” your child to use language. Then during the activity you are able to model the language you want your child to use. If your child loves bubbles you can work on labeling “bubbles," you can work on putting two words together saying “more bubbles," or you can create a communication temptation by putting the cover back on the bubbles and modeling the words you would like your child to use to ask for more. You can model the words “open”, “help”, “more bubbles” etc. tempting your child to communication to get their wants met.
